“I came out when I was 25, in a country where I felt safe and to A family that might not understand, but supported me. I thought discrimination was far from me, but I was wrong. BUT one month ago, at the start of the elections in Brazil, i, as many of my lbgt friends, saw the reality that was hiding in plain sight. Uncles and aunts, parents and close friends voted yes to discrimination and violence. AND today, monday, bolsonaro was elected and I’M scared to WALk down the street holding hands with my girlfriend. Will our love become illegal? Will I be able to marry her or will that right, that we fought to conquer, will disappear? No one knows what will happen, BUT we’ll resist.”
