“i started transitioning when i was 30, and one of the most difficult parts was trying to construct a narrative around the transition.. i didn’t know how to start presenting myself as trans because i had always kept things buried inside of me. My family had experienced a serious trauma and partially because of this, the only way i knew how to live was to create a seemingly comfortable facade around me. Even though presenting against my own authentic self caused a lot of anguish and mental turmoil, the effects were virtually invisible. i started writing a memoir to piece things together and here i am, in my studio, feeling like a whole person.”
